Warthog (Phacochoerus aethopicus)

Warthog males have two pairs of warts in contrast to the sows with only a single pair of warts. Warthogs mostly dig up their food consisting of grubs, roots, tubers etc. Left a male warthog.


Boars weigh up to 80kg and sows up to 55kg. A sow can get up to 4 young at a time. Warthogs love to wallow in mud to rid themselves of parasites and to cool off.

Suricate (Suricata suricatta)

Suricates belong to the mongoose family. On the left is the typical posture of suricates when scouting and keeping an eye out for enemies. Their diet mainly consists of insects, bird eggs and even venemous snakes. They mostly live in open areas and a colony can reach up to 30 individuals.
