Einfuhrbestimmungen – Jagdreise mit Ihrer persönlichen Waffe

For many hunters, bringing their familiar firearm along for the hunt is a natural choice. This is generally permitted in Namibia, provided that all legal requirements are met.

Minimum Calibre and Ammunition

For hunting medium-sized game such as hartebeest, kudu, oryx or eland, we recommend a minimum calibre of .270.

A maximum of 100 rounds of ammunition may be imported per calibre.

Prohibited Firearm Types

Please note that the following types of firearms are not permitted for trophy hunting in Namibia:

Handguns (e.g. pistols and revolvers)
Automatic and semi-automatic rifles

Travelling by Air with a Firearm

Please contact your airline in advance to clarify its specific requirements for transporting hunting firearms and ammunition. Each airline has different procedures, which may include advance notification or additional forms.

To ensure that you can bring your own hunting firearm into Namibia without complications, please make sure that the following documents and preparations are completed in good time:

Valid international or EU firearms licence
Firearms ownership card (original + copy recommended)

📬 Hunting Invitation

Official invitation or booking confirmation from your hunting farm or Namibian hunting outfitter

📝 Import Declaration & Permit

“Temporary Rifle Import Permit Application” (Firearm Application)
➤ Tip: Download, complete and print the form before your trip
➤ Alternatively: Complete the form upon arrival at the Customs and Excise Office in Namibia

✈️ Flight & Transport

Firearms transport permit from your airline (subject to a fee, depending on the airline)
Firearm and ammunition must be transported separately and properly packed in accordance with IATA regulations
Prior notification of firearm transport to the airline is strongly recommended
